Plant Care & Growing Tips

Caring for your Treubii Moonlight Scindapsus live plant is straightforward, ensuring it remains a vibrant and healthy addition to your home. This easy care indoor plant thrives when its basic needs for light, water, and soil are met. Providing optimal conditions will encourage its beautiful foliage to flourish.

For lighting, the Scindapsus treubii Moonlight prefers medium to bright indirect sunlight. While it can tolerate lower light, brighter conditions will help maintain its vibrant silver variegation and prevent the vines from becoming leggy. Avoid direct sunlight, especially harsh afternoon rays, as this can scorch the leaves. If your space is challenged for natural light, consider supplementing with LED grow lights for a few hours daily. When it comes to watering, allow the soil to almost completely dry out between waterings. A good indicator is when the leaves start to slightly wilt. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then wait until the soil is dry again. Reduce watering frequency during the cooler winter months. If the soil becomes compacted, soaking the entire root ball in a bucket of water for about 10 minutes can help loosen it.

The ideal soil for your Sterling Silver Scindapsus should be loose, nutrient-rich, and well-draining. A standard pre-mixed potting soil designed for indoor plants, with good organic matter like coco-coir or peat moss, usually suffices. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot. Average household temperatures between 65-80°F are perfect for this tropical plant; prolonged exposure to temperatures below 55°F can stunt growth and be fatal. While it appreciates higher humidity, average household humidity is generally fine. Fertilize every two weeks with a weak solution of complete liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring to fall). During winter, or if growth slows, reduce or stop fertilizing. This Treubii Moonlight Scindapsus live plant is a vining houseplant and can reach over 10 feet with proper care, especially if given a support like a trellis or stake.
